Understanding ED with PD
Erectile Dysfunction is the inability to get and/or maintain an erection sufficient for sexual intercourse.
Peyronie's Disease, on the other hand, is characterized by penile pain, curvature, and/or deformity. The causes of PD aren’t fully understood, but the disease may result from repeated injury to the penis, genetics, connective tissue disorders, age or other health conditions.4
These conditions often coexist, with approximately 75% of men with PD also experiencing ED.2
Emotional Impact of ED and PD
The effects of ED and PD can be long-lasting if left untreated. These conditions may result in increased risk of depression, low self-esteem, and relationship difficulties. These issues can affect both the man’s and his partner’s quality of life.1,3
Treatment Options
Fortunately, there are treatments for each condition. For ED, treatment options include oral medications, vacuum devices, suppositories, injections, and penile implants. For PD, treatment options include medication, plication, incision or excision, and grafting procedures.3
Another potential treatment option is a penile implant. In a study of men with ED and Peyronie's Disease, 98% of patients with preoperative curvature ≤60° had complete resolution of penile curvature with an AMS 700 CX or Titan penile implant and remodeling.5 When treating ED, the AMS 700 inflatable penile implant provides the ability to have an erection anytime you choose, and once activated, you can maintain an erection as long as you desire.6
Taking the Next Step
Finding a treatment can be a life-changing event. Physicians are equipped to evaluate your unique situation and help identify appropriate treatment.
One study found following inflatable penile implant surgery, more than two-thirds of ED patients with PD reported greater self-confidence.5
